People whose work
you have already seen

Two names you do not expect at a Halloween festival in Athens, and one room that should not be open.

Artwork for the drawing workshop with Carlos and Jordi Grangel

From Hollywood, in Greece for the first time

Carlos & Jordi Grangel

If you have seen Corpse Bride, Hotel Transylvania, Pinocchio or Madagascar, you have seen their work. The two Spanish character designers are among the people who decide what a monster looks like before it ever moves — and they are coming to Athens exclusively for the festival.

The exhibition

The original drawings from the films, inside the festival venue, all three days. The €5 admission ticket gets you in — nothing else is needed.

Free with admission Fri 12:00–23:00 · Sat 10:00–23:00 · Sun 10:00–22:00

The drawing workshop

On Sunday 1 November at 16:00, in the workshops area. Limited places. On Sunday one brother runs the workshop while the other signs.

€50

Meet up, signings, autographs

Both of them, at the times in the programme: Friday 17:00–21:00 and Saturday 16:00–20:00, in the extra free activities — no ticket needed.

Special effects

The Alachouzos brothers

Giorgos and Roulis are Greece's two foremost creators of special effects. More than 50 film productions abroad — among them Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

They are not coming to the festival to talk about their careers. They are coming to show how they are born in front of the camera — the monsters, the transformations and the illusions we have all seen without ever working out how they were done.

One appearance, in the screening hall.

Free with admission Saturday 31.10 · 17:00

And a second look at the effects

On Sunday at 11:00, Snuff Masks show live how cinema blood is made — and on Saturday morning they run a mask and special effects workshop.

And one room

Horror Museum

Something went very, very wrong in this room.

The museum closed. The exhibits stayed where they were. The Horror Museum once held a collection of likenesses of notorious figures from the horror world — the kind you look at for a long time and then sleep facing the other way.

In time, things began to happen that no one could explain. Strange sounds after closing. Objects that moved. The owner came to believe the exhibits had gathered so much negative energy that something else had started living among them.

He left. He never came back.

The museum has stood almost abandoned ever since. But for three nights its doors open again. Wander among the exhibits. Just remember one rule:

In this museum, you may not be the only one watching.

Free with admission All three days, alongside the Escape Room
